Almost all of the work we do to protect our lakes is done by volunteer
LOAN members. Whether you have just and hour or two each month
or are able to devote much more time, we always can use more help.
Contact us to discuss how you would like to volunteer. Here are a few
opportunities:
Outreach To be effective, we need to engage everyone in our watershed,
whether they live on the lake shore or uphill, or are just visiting; we are
always looking for new and creative ways to do it. A few of the related tasks
are: writing, editing, graphic design, building information kiosks and other
displays, representing LOAN at events, staffing information tables, and
checking and stocking selected sites with brochures and maps.
Water Quality We are continuously monitoring the lakes’ water quality, not
only to keep them healthy and beautiful but also to avoid costly problems.
Our programs include: regular water quality surveys to check water
chemistry, invasive plant surveys; watershed surveys; courtesy boat
inspections; and checking buoy placement. We are also engaged in erosion site
remediation projects to minimize the flow of harmful runoff.
Organizational Support We could use help with a wide range of other
tasks and you may have just the skills we need! These include but are not
limited to: administrative support, grant writing, database maintenance,
updating our website, financial management, project coordination, legal
advice and consultation, and watershed erosion protection engineering.
Volunteer efforts can run from being a little involved, to very much involved, according to your interest.
