LAON has a mission critical to the Town of Norway. Many lakes in our region have degraded significantly due to invasive plants, or water issues like algae. Once these problems hit, everyone is affected. It takes huge sums of money just to make small progress with infested lakes. The ability to use the lakes for recreation becomes limited and property values can be greatly reduced.
LAON checks the water, and this year is instituting a boat inspection program designed to prevent invasive plants from entering our lakes.
